The Big Listen: Help Us Strengthen Family Engagement
Dear Parents and Carers,
We want our school to be a welcoming and inclusive place where every family feels informed, involved and able to contribute to school life.
It has been wonderful to see so many families joining us for celebration assemblies, Meet the Teacher sessions and activities in their children’s classrooms. However, we recognise that it is not always easy for families to attend school events or become involved in the ways they would like.
What is The Big Listen?
The Big Listen is a four-week consultation with our families. Its purpose is to help us understand:
- how families would like to engage with school;
- which activities, events and workshops would be most valuable;
- what can sometimes make it difficult to take part;
- how we can better support families with their children’s learning;
- how well our current communication methods are working; and
- other ways families would like to contribute to school life.
How can I take part?
Each week for the next four weeks, we will ask families three short questions.
A new QR code and link to the weekly feedback form will be added to this page each week. QR codes will also be shared through our usual communication channels and displayed on posters around school.
Responses will be anonymous. There are no right or wrong answers, and we welcome honest and constructive feedback. We particularly want to hear from families who do not usually attend school events, as your experiences and ideas are equally important to us.
If you would prefer to share your views in person, members of staff will have paper feedback sheets available at drop-off and collection times.
What will happen next?
After the four-week consultation has closed, we will bring together and carefully analyse all the feedback we have received. We will then share the main themes with families, explain what we have learned and outline the actions we plan to take as a result.
Thank you for helping us shape the next steps for our school community. Your views, experiences and ideas matter to us.
